Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) is Kerala’s own Civil Service. Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) provides the second rung of top bureaucrats in the state – next only to Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
KAS is designed in the model of IAS which is managed by the Centre.
There is a high chance for most of the officers selected into KAS to get IAS – by promotions. Hence KAS can also be considered as the feeder service for IAS – that too in the Kerala cadre.
About Kerala Administrative Service (KAS)
Kerala Administrative Service is constituted to absorb young and meritorious applicants into the senior posts in the State Civil Service. This will allow the direct ascent of bright young candidates into senior official posts which would otherwise take them years to attain.
Recruitment into KAS
A three-tier recruitment system has been cleared for constituting the KAS.
- Recruitment of freshers by PSC – by KAS exam.
